I'm sure most of you know, the run for the roses is today! Today I'm not going to talk about the most famous prop peice, the roses, but some of the slighter things I notice watching.
First off, does anyone know what this is?
I saw several of the leader ponies wearing them, and they look like a nibble guard from the thoroughbreds (I saw one of the racers chewing one!). It may not be a vital piece of tack by any means, but would certainly be a nice touch in a racing scene :)
Next, the white bridle trend!
For reasons beyond me, this sort of synthetic white bridle was on several heads today. Maybe synthetic cleaned easier, but I'm still questioning the choice of white (especially with this sloppy track).
Lastly, I couldn't make a derby post without a sampling of hats, big....

Has anyone made derby prop dolls? I bet dressing them would be so fun!
