What a week it was! At the first of the month Riddle was simply primed and (semi) planned!
First came getting to a main body color I was satisfied with. After countless layers of pastels, today that goal was in sight! Just a few layers before declaring the body color set I brushed less haired areas, muzzle groin etc.,with gray. This allowed the gray to be softly blended by the following layers, but resulted in a pretty interesting "ugly stage."
This week also gave me opportunity to work with a new media I learned about from the other talented artists participating: eyeshadow! I was able to find this chestnut type palette at dollar tree and just couldn't resist!
Lesson Learned: After trying out the eyeshadow using both a paintbrush (admirably a cheap one) and a standard eyeshadow applicator, I preferred the applicator. It kept the makeup on the model better and created a more visible and shimmery layer. However, it did tend to go on umevenly, and it took some time to get even coverage. The paintbrush made a very thin layer, where mostly I saw the shimmer, but not much of the color itself. You can still see the shimmer some in the pic showing gray skin.
I also learned a new way to handle grain showing on the model. This method does its job, but causes another hilarious ugly stage picture! Chalky/Ghost, maybe he should be Casper haha
Overall I'm ecstatic over how far I've gotten, and next week is only going to be better. I hope to get my shading and markings done this coming week, maybe eyes if all goes well :)
