Today was a research day, with the bonus of miniature :)
This week my daughter, Jade, is spending some time with my mom, so I've been able to almost finish my saddle set. Tonight Ill be finishing the bridle, but that's all that's left! So today I took a break and went to the spring tack exchange.
Mostly I oggled western saddles and compared prices. We saw saddles, including a familiar one, some as cheap as $30 but most were a couple hundred, and pleasure saddles around $1000. I was more interested in details today though, especially these rawhide touches (the stirrups were laced together on the sides, but showed age and wear).
There was also this saddle:
Have any of you exposed trees like this? It didn't feel like rawhide or anything was covering it.
There was a great selection of English saddles as well, a few that I almost bought. If I had a horse to need it for.... Still, this is the first time I've gotten to look at so many English saddles with the idea of recreation in mind.
And naturally, there were models (and American girl, and plush, and stick ponies)! I did get a small haul for myself: a breyer saddle set, doll, and a Chocolate Chip Kisses. I'm especially excited about this doll, her color scheme matches a saddle pad I'm working on, plus a few other things :) The tack is missing one sport boot, so maybe the one will be decontrusted to figure out, not sure yet.
